Compton Performing Arts Academy
“The greatest danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that our aim is too low and we reach it.”
— Michelangelo
What if school could increase the excitement of learning while ensuring strong academic quality and success for underserved students and highly academic achievers while eliminating the achievement gap?
Compton Kidz Club & CISCO Technology have joined forces to provide a strong and excellent academic learning environment to students that integrates performing arts, academic learning and technology to students of the world. Compton Performing Arts Academy (CPAA), a subsidiary of Compton Kidz Club, offers basic and advanced academic, scientific and artistic studies for students with the ability and potential to meet the challenge. This integration allows our students to experience a full performing arts programs through the integration of technology unlike what may be achieved in a traditional school setting.
CPAA has a unique curriculum structure. Over four years, all students are required to take the College Preparatory accredited academic core program of 210 credits in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Foreign Language, Physical Education, Health and Computer applications. In addition, students take additional electives that include Anti-Bullying, Civics, Financial Literacy and Racial Literacy. The Performing Arts curriculum provides an array of technically interactive state of the art electives that include choir, music, dance, modeling and digital recording.
CISCO Technologies, with the power of TelePresence (Video Conferencing), provides cutting edge solutions through 21st century learning providing students with both skills and knowledge, encouraging them to “drop–in”, instead of “dropping out” of school. Integrating academics, technology, and performing arts, we provide the skills to engage learners, encourage school attendance, and graduate students with both academic and career pathways leading to music editing, mixing, engineering, vocals and other career choices in the performing arts.
Students use technology as a means of uncovering the following:
• Virtual field trips touring museums, concerts and lectures around the globe.
• “Real world” experiences, giving students the ability to enhance, scale and leverage the curriculum.
• World—class Master Sessions of performers, presenting attractive, economical and engaging ways to bring countless professionals to the classroom at the touch of a fingertip.
